Artistry in Every Design,

Crafting Memories That Last a Lifetime

My dream is to help you never forget a single detail.

Hello! I’m Sam, I am a professional artist, with over a decade of experience working in design, sculpture, and life casting. Over the years, my artistic skills brought me to lead projects around the United States, Brazil, and Europe, making unique art objects for exhibitions and educational materials.

Having this skillset took on a whole new meaning for me in 2022 when I became a mom. I had friends who painted portraits of their children as they grew up, so I thought why not cast my son each year around his birthday. So, at just three weeks old I cast my son’s hands for the first time…

Time is elusive, isn't it? One moment, they're tiny bundles in our arms; the next, they're exploring the world on their own. Those tiny hands became my most treasured possession especially as I see each year how much he’s grown.

I’d love to create something special for you. From framed to freestanding, fingers to toes, each piece is lovingly crafted and uniquely yours.

- Sam

What to Expect

  • If you’re ready to book - I’m ready for you! Once you’ve booked, you’ll be sent an email with all the info you’ll need.

If you’re currently pregnant, book your appointment 3-4 weeks after your due date.

  • As we are just building up our design offerings more will be shown on the website. Read more about our offerings on the service page. You don’t have to decide exactly what you’d like to get done before your appointment, but a general idea is really helpful! Don’t worry, at your appointment you’ll get to see samples of the frames, coloring, and other design options.

  • Currently, I am offering the option to bring this service to your home or you’re welcome to my studio. If you choose to book at your own home, I will be in touch about this process at booking.

For a studio appointment, I am based in the Miramar neighborhood of Jacksonville FL - about 15 minutes from downtown and appointments take around 1 hour.

Before we get casting, we’ll have a chat about the different keepsake design options, and I’ll guide you through making decisions on the finishing options available. There will be samples for you to see up close, and I’ll explain the mold making process to you before we begin.

  • For home visits, I will bring material to ensure your home is kept tidy for the casting.

For casting, I will be dressed in my typical studio attire (apron) mixing up a special concoction of alginate and water. Alginate is a seaweed-based material which is hypo-allergenic and safe to use on the most delicate skin – it is even safe in the mouth as it is most commonly used in dentistry for taking teeth impressions. The alginate is nice and warm, has a consistency similar to thick custard, and takes less than a minute to set.

  • Your little one might be awake or asleep. Either is fine! We will go over the best holding positions for casting with the comfort of your little one always being top priority.

I will gently moisturize their hands and feet and place them into the alginate mixture to set - which takes up to a minute. The mixture is warm, and sometimes they don’t even notice I’m doing it. I’ll take as many molds needed - it’s all part of the experience!

  • Once the alginate has set, the consistency becomes rubbery. I will gently wriggle your baby’s hand or foot to break the seal of the mold, and it will slip right out. Sometimes there is some alginate residue leftover on your baby’s skin which I will wipe away.

  • At the end of the casting process, I will have your empty molds labeled and ready to bring back to my studio. Your part is all done and now it’s over to me to finish your keepsake according to what you’ve chosen.

Each cast goes through a whole series of stages (drying, refining, sanding, priming, painting, varnishing, framing, photographing, and packaging) which takes around 12 weeks.

As soon as your keepsake is finished, I’ll email you to arrange collection.

Materials being used.

Curious about the material being used for this?? Do not worry! I have been practicing this life casting process for over a decade using safe practices and staying up to date on the best materials.

My 3D hand and foot casts are taken using a non-toxic/hypoallergenic material which is safe for use on the most sensitive of skin types. The molding material takes around 1 minute to set (it sets around the wriggliest of fingers and toes!).
